Fundraising campaign for BVZ locomotive no. 16

Deutsch [de] / Français [fr] / English [en]

The locomotive HGe 4/4 I 16 was delivered in 1939 by SLM/MFO to the former Visp-Zermatt-Bahn and is the prototype for the younger, well-known locomotives HGe 4/4 I 31-37 of the Furka-Oberalp-Bahn. Until 2007, the locomotive was part of the BVZ/MGB fleet and operated various types of trains between Brig and Zermatt, including the world-famous Glacier Express.

In 2007, the locomotive was handed over to the Furka-Bergstrecke steam railway (DFB) and stored in the depot in Gletsch until 2018. In 2018, locomotive no. 16 was returned to the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB). MGBahn-Historic has been fully responsible for the locomotive from then on. The MGBahn-Historic association intends to refurbish locomotive no. 16 in order to be able to offer special train trips.

Since the end of November 2021, the locomotive HGe 4/4 II 102 of the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB) has been advertising the support of the revision of the locomotive BVZ HGe 4/4 I 16. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the executive board of the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn for supporting our project with the provision of a locomotive for the distribution of our advertising message.
